All keys are vulnerable to being snapped inside of your door lock. Keys are easily replaced, but not so easy to remove from a door lock. A few simple tips will guide you in the proper steps to take to remove you broken key. Obtain a lubricant, and spray it directly into the locking mechanism. Place the nozzle of the lubricant flat against the lock. Spray a generous amount into the lock. If you own a set of key removal tools, use them to reach into the locking mechanism. Grasp the end of the key and slide it out with the tool. If you do not have a key removal tool, use a pair of needle nose pliers. Take the pliers and insert them into the lock. Slowly remove the broken key by pulling it out straight.
If the preceding two ways did not work, use a set of tweezers. Slide the tweezers in, and slowly pull out the broken key. If you are unable to remove the snapped key, you will need to contact a professional to remove the key from your door lock.
